Servicing FAQs

Is it necessary to have my caravan or motorhome serviced?
Yes. Regular servicing ensures your caravan or motorhome remains roadworthy and safe, and helps identify any deterioration or issues. If your vehicle is under warranty, it must be serviced within the manufacturer’s specified timeframe to keep the warranty valid.

How often should my caravan or motorhome be serviced?
A full service should be carried out every 12 months, even if the vehicle has only been used a few times. Problems can occur through both use and lack of use. Annual servicing is also required to maintain any manufacturer or dealer warranty.

Do I need an annual service to maintain my warranty?
Yes. All caravan and motorhome manufacturers require an annual service and damp check to be completed by an AWS Service Centre or Approved Dealer/Workshop. Missing a service will invalidate your warranty. You must also retain VAT invoices and damp reports as proof.

What is the AWS (Approved Workshop Scheme)?
The AWS is a collaboration between the National Caravan Council, The Caravan and Motorhome Club and The Camping and Caravanning Club. Workshops must pass an annual inspection and meet strict standards to remain approved. Further information can be found by visiting AWS Workshops | Approved Workshop Scheme

Are you an AWS member?
Yes. Both our fixed workshop and mobile workshop are independently assessed annually and meet all AWS standards.

How long does a service take?
A caravan or motorhome habitation service typically takes 2–4 hours, depending on age and condition. Most standard services are completed the same day.

What happens if faults are found during the service?
Any non‑warranty faults are chargeable at our standard labour rate. Larger repairs may need to be booked in separately.

What documents will I receive after the service?
Once payment is received, you will be given a detailed invoice, service report and damp report.

How far in advance should I book?
We recommend booking 8–12 weeks ahead, especially if your service must be completed within a warranty window. Many customers book 12 months in advance.

Do I need to empty my caravan or motorhome?
Please remove personal belongings where possible. The main walkway must be clear for health and safety. Leave your water pump/inlet hose and gas bottle for testing.

Are gas appliances serviced during the annual service?
Gas appliances are safety‑checked but not fully serviced. Full gas appliance servicing is available at an additional cost.

How important is gas appliance servicing?
Very important. Carbon monoxide is a serious risk. Annual servicing by a competent gas engineer is strongly recommended, along with using an audible CO alarm.

Do you service motorhome engines or chassis?
No. We only service the habitation area. Engine and chassis servicing should be carried out by a commercial vehicle service centre or your motorhome dealer.

What should I do if I have a warranty issue?
We will need your make, model and CRIS/build/chassis number. Contact our office on 01792 578585. We may need to inspect the issue and obtain photos before submitting a claim. If we have not serviced your vehicle before, we will require copies of previous service documents and damp reports.
